FLAWLESS VICTORY: James Woods REKT Chelsea Handler on the 2nd Amendment in just 1 tweet

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 20:31

Twitchy covered Chelsea Handler being her usual ignorant self yesterday, when she tweeted this nugget about the 25th Amendment.

Every time I land in America, how much longer can these generals allow trump to cause so much damage? 25th amendment is there for a reason.

— Chelsea Handler (@chelseahandler) October 15, 2017

But of course, now we have to cover the schooling James Woods just gave her not only about the 25th but about the Second as well. Hey, it’s what we’re here for.

That and making jokes about refrigerators running.

That would be a coup d’etat. We are a constitutional republic to avoid that very act. It is precisely why we have the Second Amendment. https://t.co/jYOAaJ3J7z

— James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) October 17, 2017

We’re going to guess that Chelsea thinks America is a Democracy, most Lefties do. In fact, one could almost say it pains them to admit we are indeed a REPUBLIC. You know, that famous line about pledging allegiance to the flag and to the republic for which it stands.

Wow. Can she just not stick to comedy. Wait. Never mind, that's not working for her either.

— ArtistUnplugged (@pinkartgurl59) October 17, 2017

Brutal.

And true.

Chelsea is madly searching her Actors Guild handbook to find out what law you are referencing.

— SBG (@stkbullgod) October 17, 2017

We can only hope.

Zing!! It may take a few minutes for Chelsea to process that. pic.twitter.com/9PRvFk323i

— Marilyn (@AgnesClaire) October 17, 2017

Seems she never did respond to James, which is really a total bummer because you KNOW it would have been a serious schooling and not just a single tweet.

Federal judge blocks Trump administration’s third attempt at a travel ban

A federal judge in Hawaii on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration’s third travel ban hours before it was to take effect.

Report: Harvey Weinstein officially resigns from The Weinstein Company board

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 19:16

Looks like Harvey Weinstein was trying to save what was left of his face and resign from The Weinstein Company’s board rather than get fired:

#BreakingNews: Harvey Weinstein resigns pic.twitter.com/7dhTAO2Gvy

— FOX Business (@FoxBusiness) October 17, 2017

Harvey Weinstein resigns from The Weinstein Co. board https://t.co/6Vx0zehfYg pic.twitter.com/getRDgFG2X

— Hollywood Reporter (@THR) October 17, 2017

More from The Hollywood Reporter:

On Tuesday, the remaining members of the TWC board — including co-chairman Bob Weinstein  — voted to ratify Weinstein’s Oct. 8 termination and to consider an immediate capital infusion from Tom Barrack’s Colony Capital that opens the door for Colony to buy the film and television production venture, if not a significant portion of its assets. Weinstein — who owns 23 percent of the TWC — called into the board session, according to insiders.

Harvey Weinstein was fired as co-chairman of his namesake company following an expose in The New York Times that detailed numerous allegations of sexual harassment on the part of the mogul. Bob Weinstein, his brother, and COO David Glasser believed the company could weather the scandal, but more serious allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, were raised in subsequent stories in The New Yorker and Times, throwing TWC into a state of chaos.

Analysts and finance attorneys say it won’t be easy rescuing TWC, whose relationship with talent, agents and other Hollywood power brokers has been severely jeopardized. Also, TWC was struggling financially even before becoming engulfed in one of the biggest scandals in Hollywood history.

It won’t be easy rescuing The Weinstein Company? That’s an understatement — especially in light of Bob Weinstein now being accused of sexual harassment as well.

That’s one hell of an operation they’re running over there.

TBH it’s probably not a good idea for Laurence Tribe to fight it out with Sebastian Gorka

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 19:05

Fight! Fight! Fight!

76-year-old Harvard Law School Professor Laurence Tribe is so mad at comments made by Sebastian Gorka at last weekend’s Value Voters summit in D.C. that he challenged the former White House staffer to a fight:

All in the family? Harvey Weinstein’s brother Bob accused of sexual harassment

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 18:53

You thought it was bad to be a Weinstein before?

BREAKING: Bob Weinstein accused of sexual harassment by TV showrunner https://t.co/ZobpdgNhuO pic.twitter.com/ZIl2YVs4pH

— Variety (@Variety) October 17, 2017

More from Variety:

A female showrunner who worked on the Weinstein Co. drama “The Mist” has accused Bob Weinstein of sexual harassment during the production of the Spike TV series.

Amanda Segel, an executive producer of “Mist,” said Weinstein repeatedly made romantic overtures to her and asked her to join him for private dinners. The harassment began in the summer of 2016 and continued on and off for about three months until Segel’s lawyer, David Fox of Myman Greenspan, informed TWC executives — including COO David Glasser — that she would leave the show if Bob Weinstein did not stop contacting her on personal matters.

“ ‘No’ should be enough,” Segel told Variety. “After ‘no,’ anybody who has asked you out should just move on. Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that. My hope is that ‘no’ is enough from now on.”

REPORT: Obama never phoned Gen. John Kelly over his son’s death in Afghanistan

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 16:13

President Donald Trump took questions earlier today and the subject of his calls to the families of fallen soldiers came up again, but this time the president had a question of his own for the media:

Trump on his claim other presidents didn’t call the families of fallen soldiers: "You could ask General Kelly if he got a call from Obama."

— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) October 17, 2017

Reporters quickly jumped on the president for bringing chief of staff John Kelly, who lost his son in Afghanistan in 2010, into the mix:

Other question is how Kelly feels having his son's death used in this way. He may be unhappy with Obama, or may not https://t.co/sLgrLH5SiB

— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) October 17, 2017

DHS source told me Kelly very sensitive to politicization of son's death; pushed back on WH attempts to highlight angel moms on immigration https://t.co/eObV8eEkev

— David Nakamura (@DavidNakamura) October 17, 2017

Kelly, a man of honor & decency, should stop this inane cruelty. He saw up-close just how—& how much—Obama cared for the fallen’s families. https://t.co/5NPTKHsd1Z

— Ned Price (@nedprice) October 17, 2017

But it seems pretty clear from the latest out of the White House that Gen. Kelly is the one now confirming that Obama never called.

NBC News:

JUST IN: President Obama did not call Gen. John Kelly when his son was killed in Afghanistan in 2010, White House official tells NBC News

— NBC Politics (@NBCPolitics) October 17, 2017

Fox News:

Following this statement from @realDonaldTrump -“You could ask Gen. Kelly, did he get a call from Obama? I don’t know what Obama’s policy was.” Sr Admin official confirms President Obama did not make a condolence call to Gen Kelly on death of his son in 2010 in Afghanistan

— Bret Baier (@BretBaier) October 17, 2017

AP:

New: WH official says Obama didn't call Kelly after son killed; no immediate word if he reached out in other fashion https://t.co/rDb48LkGUI

— Jonathan Lemire (@JonLemire) October 17, 2017

Now let’s see if we can make this a three-day story.

Update. It will be a three-day story. Now there are reports that Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the WH official speaking off-the-record:

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is an official confirming on background that Obama didn't call Kelly, per a person familiar (not at BuzzFeed News)

— Steven Perlberg (@perlberg) October 17, 2017

And two, Kelly reportedly sat at Obama’s table during a 2011 Gold Star families event:

Gen. Kelly and wife attended Gold Star families breakfast at WH in 2011 and sat at Mrs. Obama's table, person familiar with breakfast says.

FINALLY! Ana Navarro goes after OBAMA! JK, she went after Trump (but it sounds a lot like Obama)

At this point, the only account that trashes Trump more than Ana Navarro may be Joy Reid.

We get it, Ana. You don’t like Trump. There are other things in this world worth talking about, you should try it. Especially when you’re overlooking Obama’s disastrous administration like this:

Simple.

President of the United States should not:

1. Lie knowingly & repeatedly;
2. Lie about former POTUSes;
3. Lie about dead soldiers.

Huh. Maybe Ana forgot about that whole Benghazi thing?

— RoadBeer McAllister (@themanfronUNCLE) October 17, 2017

UTINNI! Ben Howe’s Star Wars thread mocking lib author’s gross abortion thread WINS Twitter

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 15:16

Earlier today, Twitchy covered a smug, liberal author named Patrick S. Tomlinson who wrote a ridiculous thread that would somehow prove that life doesn’t begin at conception. Dude spent like 12 tweets with 280 characters each preening about saving a five-year-old over a bunch of frozen embryos … yeah, it was exceptionally stupid.

But Twitter being Twitter, Ben Howe stepped up and made the perfect mockery of Tomlinson’s thread:

Whenever Star Wars comes up, I have a question I've been asking for ten years now of the "Star Trek is better" crowd. 1/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

*popcorn*

It's a simple scenario with two outcomes. No one ever wants to pick one, because the correct answer destroys their argument. 2/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Here it is. You're at comicon. The fire alarm goes off. You run for the exit. 4/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

A FIRE AT COMICON? NOOOOOO!

As you run down this hallway, you hear William Shatner yelling at hotel staff. You enter the room. 5/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

They're in one corner of the room. In the other corner, you spot Harrison Ford piercing his other ear with a gaudy diamond stud. 6/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Go on.

The smoke is rising. You start to choke. 7/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

You know you can shame one or the other but not both before you die of smoke inhalation and die, showing favoritism to neither franchise. 8/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

But Star Trek! Star Wars! This isn’t fair … what an impossible question!

Do you A) film Shattner and yell “PHASERS ON KILL!” when the hotel staff calls him a washed up has-been? 9/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Never!

Or B) Show Ford a picture of himself and call him “Han Gaylo?” There is no "C." "C" means you no one gets pwned on message boards later. 10/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Hrm.

In a decade of arguing with Star Wars people about the definition of fandom, I've never gotten a straight A/B answer to this question. 11/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Well, of course the correct answer is bacon.

It’s always bacon.

And I never will. 12/

— Ben (@BenHowe) October 17, 2017

Thanks for reminding us why we still love Twitter – sometimes.

NFL take note: Photo of roofers standing for the national anthem goes viral

NFL take note.

A photo of 3 roofers in Maine who paused their work to stand as the national anthem played during a high school football game has gone viral after getting posted to Facebook.

Michelle Lyons Cossar, who snapped the picture, wrote:

Harrison, who is on the far right in the photo, told Fox News that standing for the anthem was the “right thing to do.”

AP Stylebook helps writers be super-woke when it comes to trans issues, gender confirmation surgery

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 01:01

The Associated Press Stylebook, a sort of dictionary/bible for reporters, is always a little bit behind the times, but the editors try to stay woke by giving more wholesome options for outdated terms like “illegal immigrant” (acceptable variations include “living in” or “entering a country illegally” or “without legal permission”).

For example, California Gov. Jerry Brown this weekend officially added a third gender option — “nonbinary” — to legal documents like birth certificates and drivers licenses.

California becomes the first state to officially recognize a ‘third gender’ https://t.co/rDuWSoXAmI

— TheBlaze (@theblaze) October 16, 2017

Nonbinary? What happened to pronouns like ze?

Fortunately for the rest of us, the Associated Press had an online chat last week to address some questions that arise when there are at least three gender options in play. Here are some tips from the pros.

Gender refers to a person’s social identity, while sex refers to biological characteristics. #APStyleChat

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Use transgender for people whose gender identity doesn’t match the sex or gender they were identified as having at birth. #APStyleChat (1/3)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

“Were identified as having at birth.”

They/them/there is OK in limited cases as a singular and/or gender-neutral pronoun; do not use other neutral pronouns like ze. #APStyleChat https://t.co/tcvwYH4Sby

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Call people transgender only if relevant; give the name they use publicly; avoid references to being born a boy or girl. #APStyleChat (2/3)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Avoid references to being born a boy or a girl — got it. Just forget that whole “identified as having at birth” deal.

Avoid transgendered or transsexual; don’t call someone a transgender; trans is OK on second reference and in headlines. #APStyleChat (3/3)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Transition is the process by which people match their physical characteristics to their gender identity. #APStyleChat (1/2)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

For medical procedures often but not always used for a transition, say sex reassignment or gender confirmation. #APStyleChat (2/2)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Hold up: So avoid references to being born a boy or a girl, and don’t use the old term “sex change” — now it’s “gender confirmation”?

This is the stuff that will turn me into an Oxford comma advocate https://t.co/RgjPbbj9DL

And even they’re considered behind — although they have left open the possibility of using pronouns like ze and zir “if usage increases.”

And in case you were wondering, you can still use plain old LGBT and be considered woke, at least by AP standards.

LGBT or LGBTQ are acceptable shorthand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning and/or queer. #APStyleChat (1/2)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Other variations such as LGBTQIA are also OK with explanation; I is usually for intersex, A for allies and/or asexual. #APStyleChat (2/2)

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

So what about the completely made-up term “homophobic?” Has AP found a more accurate term that doesn’t rely of pseudo-psychology?

Homophobia is acceptable in broad references and quotes. When describing individuals' actions, use more specific language. #APStyleChat https://t.co/SFHYYxyq5p

— AP Stylebook (@APStylebook) October 10, 2017

Use more specific language; e.g., “His religious objection to baking a wedding cake for the same-sex couple was proof of his homophobia.”

Stephen King pits Donald Trump against Jesus in his latest bit of Twitter fiction

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 21:51

Even his biggest fans have had to wonder for the longest time: is Stephen King just that talented a horror writer, or is something up with his brain?

Well, a quick scan of his Twitter feed since Donald Trump’s inauguration shows that he clearly has an unhealthy obsession with the president. Sometimes he’s upset over a specific issue like gun control, sometimes it’s a retweet of an animated GIF, but other times it seems like he’s just trying to fill his daily word quota. Take, for example, this bit of fiction placing Trump in biblical times:

If Donald Trump had been in Jerusalem back in the day, Jesus would have driven him out of the temple with the rest of the moneychangers.

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) October 15, 2017

Where to begin? Was Trump even in the temple? Or was he overseeing the building of an even bigger temple next door? Who knows? Who cares? Why is King even tweeting this?

Whenever I want to learn more about Christ, I listen to people who don't believe in Him. https://t.co/02DibNUUav

AWKWARD! MoveOn.org establishes ‘new definition of chutzpah’ by supporting this hashtag

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 21:25

Many women and men have weighed in with their thoughts on sexual harassment and abuse using the hashtag #MeToo. Some organizations are also showing support, such as this one:

#MeToo
You are not alone. https://t.co/y0xVpJ3wnT

— MoveOn.org (@MoveOn) October 16, 2017

Wait a second. Really?

Old enough to remember this site's namesake. https://t.co/jjQbDGLKBo

— Anthony Abides (@AnthonyAbides) October 16, 2017

They couldn’t be less self-aware if they tried:

You guys are saying #MeToo? The organization FOUNDED to help protect @BillClinton from charges of abuse and rape? https://t.co/p6eNcJ7yqX

— (((Aaron Worthing))) (@AaronWorthing) October 16, 2017

But @MoveOn is alone in the chutzpah department.

It formed to tell us to "move on" from Bill Clinton's sexual harassment of a WH intern. https://t.co/hvAXSts8d2

— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) October 16, 2017

They also obviously decided to “move on” away from any sense of irony.

This is a new definition of chutzpah: an organization FOUNDED to tell us to move on from Clinton's sexual abuse saying #MeToo @MoveOn

— (((Aaron Worthing))) (@AaronWorthing) October 16, 2017

That's what "move on" literally means: move on from Bill Clinton's sexual abuse, change the subject.

— (((Aaron Worthing))) (@AaronWorthing) October 16, 2017

Absolutely shameless.

‘London Hillary falling down’: Hillary Clinton falls, breaks toe on stairs during London book tour

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 17:35

Uh-oh, seems Hillary lost her footing on some stairs during her London book tour.

Hillary Clinton falls, breaks toe on the stairs during London book tour https://t.co/psZaHNn2MB pic.twitter.com/avz8MXL1Nk

— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) October 16, 2017

From the Washington Examiner:

Hillary Clinton canceled several media appearances Monday while on her book tour in London after she fell down the stairs and broke her toe.

“I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards,” Clinton told the Graham Nortion Show.

“I tried to get up and it really hurt. I’ve broken my toe. I’ve received excellent care from your excellent health service.”

We ALMOST felt sorry for her until we read the obvious political ploy about their excellent health service.

Oh, Hillary.

And away we go… https://t.co/8sDwS1vg7f

‘Dripping with contempt’: S.E. Cupp blasts Salon for their list of 25 Conservatives worth following

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 15:20

Salon doesn’t like Conservatives, so when they released a list of 25 Conservatives worth following pretty much every actual Conservative laughed heartily. Sadly for those included on the list, there was a good deal of mockery and trolling, but that’s not why S.E. Cupp slammed them for including her on the list:

Thanks, but who wants to be included in a list that only feigns respect for conservatives bc we disagree with Trump? https://t.co/pp1sGaH0eI

— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) October 15, 2017

There are plenty of Conservatives who call ‘balls and strikes’ when dealing with Trump. In other words, they give him credit where credit is due and hold him accountable when need be. Salon based their list on Conservatives who they think hate Trump 24/7, they didn’t really base it on the ideas and principles of actual Conservatism.

Which was really the most annoying part of the list … that and not one single Twitchy editor made it. Harumph!

Salon could create a comprehensive list of people named Kyle Beckley and I'd be ashamed because they included me on their site.

— Kyle Beckley (@Kyle_Beckley) October 15, 2017

Gotta watch out for those Kyle Beckley lists on Salon.

Shew-dawgie!

Yeah. These people don't like conservatives. These write ups are dripping with contempt for actual conservatism. https://t.co/pp1sGaH0eI

— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) October 15, 2017

Of course, because Salon has nothing but contempt for actual Conservatism.

Especially their write up of @JayCaruso

Paraphrasing, but "if you get past his #2A tweets, he's actually sensible"

I mean, how insulting.

It was pretty awful indeed.

What a WAY to make a living? Jane Fonda admits she KNEW about Weinstein yet said NOTHING

Sun, 10/15/2017 - 14:21

Add Jane Fonda to the list of Hollywood elites who enabled Weinstein.

From CNN:

The film star, who is also an active women’s rights advocate, told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday that she “found out about Harvey about a year ago.”

“I’m ashamed that I didn’t say anything right then,” Fonda said.

Right.

Not a month ago, Fonda was onstage at the Emmys claiming she refused to be controlled by a "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot." https://t.co/duHgPDrIsI

— Mo Mo (@molratty) October 15, 2017

So even by Fonda’s own admission, she knew Weinstein was preying on women in Hollywood while she stood on that stage and ranted about not being controlled by a “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”

WATCH: George Lopez apologizes to ‘white privilege’ after anti-Trump jokes backfire at kids’ charity event

Sun, 10/15/2017 - 03:22

Comedian George Lopez recently headlined a juvenile diabetes charity event in Denver, and his anti-Trump shtick didn’t resonate with the audience:

EXCLUSIVE: George Lopez was booed off stage over his anti-Trump comedy routine at a gala in Denver https://t.co/w5ni6whZyt pic.twitter.com/MTRlrZUV4j

— Page Six (@PageSix) October 14, 2017

When the audience did not respond well, he quipped, "Are you El Chapo people?" https://t.co/ashsOxn4Lw

— Page Six (@PageSix) October 14, 2017

Via Page Six:

We’re told the flap began when Trump backer and Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei donated $250,000 but requested that Lopez cool it with the anti-Trump jokes at the Carousel Ball.

An attendee at the event — where tables sold from $5,000 to $100,000 to benefit the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes — commented on a YouTube video that “George was asked nicely to stop making Trump jokes by a man in front row [Maffei] who just donated $250K.” But “George doesn’t, continues. Gets booed.”

We’re told that Lopez responded to Maffei, “Thank you for changing my opinion on old white men, but it doesn’t change the way I feel about orange men.”

And here’s what happened just after the reported booing:

HMM: Maybe Hillary should have handed out yard signs instead of just chillin’ in Iowa

Sat, 10/14/2017 - 20:04

What did Hillary Clinton do before the election when she was “just chillin’ in Cedar Rapids”? Reportedly not handing out yard signs:

From an Iowa Dem who asked for HRC signs:

"The response, she said, was “a little too East Coast.”

“They said, ‘Yard signs don’t vote.’" https://t.co/MKU6z8eT21

— Sarah McCammon NPR (@sarahmccammon) October 14, 2017

Maybe Hillary could add a new chapter to “What Happened” in time for the paperback release:

BTW, this is something I noticed in Iowa (and even VA, where Clinton won): anecdotally, yard signs/bumper stickers seemed to favor Trump. https://t.co/k0TTC0Huqn

— Sarah McCammon NPR (@sarahmccammon) October 14, 2017

And where I grew up – yard signs do matter. People are influenced by what their neighbors think – or at least see them as informal polls.

— Sarah McCammon NPR (@sarahmccammon) October 14, 2017

The Clinton campaign didn’t think yard signs voted but somehow still hoped fundraisers in L.A. and on Martha’s Vineyard would put them over the top in Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin?

This was documented in "Shattered." Clinton campaign was all about models and metrics. Local HQs everywhere screamed for signs. None came.

— rockmom✝ (@rockmom) October 14, 2017

I asked for Clinton signs at the Iowa State Fair. Was directed to purchase them from her store. Still supported her but left a sour taste.

— J Alex Thompson (@JAlexThompson) October 14, 2017

Go 30 miles outside of New York City. Yard signs everywhere for Trump.

— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) October 14, 2017

— Captain Crunch (@greenrotgut) October 14, 2017

Basically Clinton’s campaign was operating under the fatal assumption that their election victory was a sure thing.
