AOC’s America: The NYT on former New York millennials needing safe spaces in the pro-life south is ‘PEAK Twitter’

Sun, 05/19/2019 - 19:46

In the latest case of the New York Times being themselves, we have a story about millennials fleeing the oppressive economic climate of big cities, such as New York, and heading to the flyover country where the cost of living is less and government regulations are not as burdensome.

Only to find out things are different politically where they are now.

Millennials have been fleeing New York for creative hubs in the South, where housing is cheap and there are plenty of good cafes and yoga studios. Then came the new abortion laws. https://t.co/kr23CbmaD0

— NYT Metro (@NYTMetro) May 16, 2019

To learn where you are living is apparently an “awakening”:

“You really forget that you are in the Deep South here,’’ she said. The news was an awakening.

It may be the most "New York Times" article premise ever. https://t.co/JWyg7uXl7s

— Esoteric Jeff (@EsotericCD) May 19, 2019

This, to say the least, seems… forced. https://t.co/Vbf8GzMqCZ

— Doug Powers (@ThePowersThatBe) May 19, 2019

Siri, show me the most New York Timesy article by the New York Times https://t.co/MjGIHU0L16

— The Reagan Battalion (@ReaganBattalion) May 19, 2019

PEAK Twitter https://t.co/MTCVkxZRP6

— Diesel Cooper (@Simplekindoffan) May 19, 2019

But going with the story’s premise…

Why are millennials fleeing New York and other cities?

And why are things economically better in the states to which they are fleeing?

Millennials have been leaving liberal areas with flailing policies for conservative areas, are stunned by conservative policies https://t.co/TcU7mHD8Gn

— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) May 19, 2019

Where did they think they were going? https://t.co/NXLRjyTiI8

— The Failing NY Times (@FormerNewspaper) May 19, 2019

And so the obvious solution is to “Brooklynize” southern cities so no one will want to live there either:

Over the many decades, it has acquired various layers of nuance, but today it tends to call to mind a string of cities from Charlotte, N.C., to Austin, Tex., that have essentially been Brooklynized by way of a progressive social culture and a tweaked fidelity to some of the South’s more marketable traditions.

This thought process is not a real thing https://t.co/cIhaqYFJLN

— Brent Scher (@BrentScher) May 19, 2019

As a native New Yorker, I just want to be clear that we’re not all like this. Only jackass transplants who hated their Midwest hometowns and couldn’t cut it in NYC think the world revolves around them like that. https://t.co/HpI7C7kuWw

— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) May 19, 2019

The article reads like a legal defense of a future executive order by the AOC administration.

‘Game changer’: Trey Gowdy says one transcript between George Papadopoulos and an FBI informant could be YUGE

Sun, 05/19/2019 - 18:50

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy says information contained in a communications transcript between former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos and an FBI informant could be a “game changer” if it is ever made public.

He told Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that such a piece of information would be considered exculpatory evidence for Papadopoulos and that one transcript in particular would have the ability to persuade people.

Teasing a possible "game-changer" in the investigation surrounding the Russia probe, @TGowdySC says that the transcripts between an FBI informant and @GeorgePapa19 could shake things up. pic.twitter.com/W9x4jba6Vj

— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) May 19, 2019

He says there would have been a record of an informant, who would have been wearing a wire, and indicated that he knows the transcripts do exist.

More via Washington Examiner:

Gowdy agreed with Bartiromo’s suggestion that the FBI had concealed relevant details about Papadopoulos from the FISA court, echoing the concerns that Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, has been expressing for months.

Papadopoulos pled guilty and served jail time for lying to the FBI as part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

During an interview with Laura Ingraham this past week, Papadopoulos said the FBI tried to use his wife to entrap him:

“Besides the FBI trying to have my then-girlfriend, now wife, actually wear a wire to try to entrap me herself — which was completely crazy — she was an Italian citizen visiting me as a girlfriend. And they subpoenaed her and tried to flip her against me, which was incredibly bizarre.”

This comes after the New York Times reported several weeks ago that the FBI did send a spy posing as a professor’s assistant to meet with Papadopoulos.

BOMBSHELL: The NYT just reported that the FBI *DID* send a spy to meet with George Papadopoulos https://t.co/PJjlbo8TkJ

Amy Walter uses a restaurant analogy to describe the problem with Joe Biden’s campaign, and we’re totally here for it

Sun, 05/19/2019 - 18:10

While former vice president Joe Biden has a commanding lead in the Democrat primary polls, there are some potential issues with his candidacy and campaign that could catch up to him as the primary season unfolds.

Cook Political Report editor Amy Walter uses a restaurant analogy to describe one potential pitfall for ol’ Joe’s campaign.

After watching the Biden campaign thus far + Philly rally yesterday, my takeaway is that his candidacy is like one of those ‘casual’ nice restaurants that you go to b/c they have a big menu and everyone in your group can find something they’ll eat. (1/2)

— amy walter (@amyewalter) May 19, 2019

No one is unhappy (“look, honey they have grilled cheese for the kids and I can get a salad), but no one walks away thinking that was an amazing meal or experience. It’s not risky, but it’s also not totally satisfying either. (2/2)

— amy walter (@amyewalter) May 19, 2019

This is a good analogy, and are there really that many voters (even Democrats) who look at Joe Biden and think that we will always regret not putting that guy in the White House?

Good stuff. https://t.co/a5kgVbxBtH

— Bret Baier (@BretBaier) May 19, 2019

This is so great! https://t.co/v8yAsrNMgh

— MelanieGore (@melaniesgore) May 19, 2019

Great analogy by @amyewalter in these tweets. And I’m not saying that from a political perspective, but from a writing standpoint. I wish I had thought of it first! https://t.co/HqyW6vvYC5

— Glen Bolger (@posglen) May 19, 2019

If his kickoff rally on Saturday was an indication of the enthusiasm of his campaign, this restaurant comparison is dead on.

SAD: Reporter estimates a crowd of about 2,000 at Joe Biden’s kickoff rally https://t.co/QKFHUnfalT

— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) May 18, 2019

As for the Democrat primary, the analogy works even further for what could become of his campaign.

Aren’t millennials killing those? https://t.co/DqkK4L34wL

Love this and now want to describe all candidates as various restaurants. https://t.co/7UHSjOSZIG

Why is he still on TV? Adam Schiff says they might try to impeach Trump without actually impeaching him

Sun, 05/19/2019 - 17:32

In the latest installment of life in Democrat world, House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-California) says they might consider impeachment proceedings against President Trump because it would be a great tool to get information.

Rep. Adam Schiff says impeachment proceedings against President Trump could be a "tool" to get information and evidence that the administration is blocking from Congress https://t.co/WQw5C7PoEr pic.twitter.com/1lXo5BoWpy

— CBS News (@CBSNews) May 19, 2019

Forget the seriousness of “high crimes and misdemeanors;” they are apparently going to start using the impeachment of a president to get what they want.

House Dems apparently exploring a non-impeachment impeachment strategy, using powers of impeachment inquiry while not committing to actually impeaching Trump… https://t.co/GjemPbJ1Wu

— Byron York (@ByronYork) May 19, 2019

Why does Schiff need more information when he’s been telling us for months that he has evidence of Russia collusion?

And what “evidence” would that be? I thought pencil neck said he already had all of the evidence. https://t.co/mOBQkRwafk

— CO Conservative (@Colorado_Right) May 19, 2019

More importantly, why is he still on television?

Speaking of tools… https://t.co/19cGMH845G

— Larry O'Connor (@LarryOConnor) May 19, 2019

This looks like pure desperation from lawmakers who’ve just about based their entire political existence on the debunked premise that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

Nevertheless, one has to wonder if they have even considered the long-term consequences of stunts like this.

Sat, 05/18/2019 - 20:19

We know how anxious we all not to see Jim Carry in “Sonic the Hedgehog,” but to tide us over until then, we can feature another of Carrey’s paintings, this one graphically showing Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey having her brain sucked out during an abortion.

I think If you’re going to terminate a pregnancy, it should be done sometime before the fetus becomes Governor of Alabama. pic.twitter.com/6QgsY2rMz7

Jay Rosen reminds us what it was like in 2016 when NPR was critical of Hillary Clinton that one time

Sat, 05/18/2019 - 19:51

As Twitchy reported, New York University journalism professor Jay Rosen announced in a tweet that he was giving up NPR after 25 years as a loyal listener. The triggering event? Someone said on air, “There are a lot of people in the United States who don’t see Donald Trump is a habitual liar and who are big fans of his.” Judging by the popularity of his rallies, we’d say that’s true, a lot of people are big fans of Trump.

That might have been the last straw from Rosen, but he had evidence of NPR’s decay; just look at how Mara Liansson summed up the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016:

Just to remind you what it was like in 2016. https://t.co/WS0lkfGbpX Visible steps the press has taken to prevent something different but just as bad from happening in 2020: none that I can see. pic.twitter.com/3GsJLCXCEr

— Jay Rosen (@jayrosen_nyu) May 18, 2019

Yeah, and…?

curious that you see journalists' jobs as preventing political outcomes you don't like.

— Lowell George Washington (@deanriehm) May 18, 2019

— Jesse smith (@jessefromwi) May 18, 2019

Why is it the job of the press to help shape election outcomes? If you just present facts to the American people objectively and allow them to decide you wouldn't be so stressed about the narrative you are putting out. It's quite arrogant to even think this is part of your job.

— Spying did occur. (@Estrickland356) May 18, 2019

So you have gone from reporting to full blown campaigning for the DNC. So much for the free press

— Zapp “Beto” Branigan (@JohnMulkey) May 18, 2019

Let me try to understand you. Are you suggesting that you can't listen because they made an objective statement? Perhaps a refund from your school of journalism is in order…

— Tra (@tk97275) May 18, 2019

Here we have a journalism professor advocating an activist Press to work for a political end result rather than one that reports the truth.

How low journalism has sunk.

— CKent (@CKentDP) May 18, 2019

Hillary Clinton created her own problems. Comey did answer this before the election when he said the new emails did not change anything. The media lifted her up as the presumptive president while giving Trump mostly negative coverage. The media has a duty to be neutral.

— Marc Velletri (@MarcVelletri) May 18, 2019

NPR only reports on the liberal side of the aisle. You're laughable.

— Cindy (@asheborn57) May 18, 2019

Hey! I'm mostly right-leaning and I don't like Mara Liasson's views either. What does this mean? Can we both be justified in thinking she is too biased, or is it something else?

— carl wagoner (@revwagcarl) May 18, 2019

Here’s Mo with the takedown:

A guy who teaches journalism thinks the press's job is to prevent Trump from getting elected, by ignoring news stories that help him. This is exactly how we got Trump. https://t.co/tMXlnVcHgJ

— Mo Mo (@molratty) May 18, 2019

For almost thirty years, RW media have been complaining, legitimately, about media bias, while the press pretended as if they were playing it straight. Trump was the first R presidential candidate to directly confront this and it's a huge part of his support.

— Mo Mo (@molratty) May 18, 2019

Y'all could be better. You could do your jobs and do your best to remove bias. You could be sane. You don't have to take the bait. Instead, you act like it's your job to get someone elected.

— Mo Mo (@molratty) May 18, 2019

Here's a truth: almost no journalist has sufficient knowledge or insight on policy, political theory, or anything about how the world works to offer any value beyond "this is what happened." Stop pretending you do.

— Mo Mo (@molratty) May 18, 2019

Many of them can’t even tell correctly what happened, either. I’ve noticed this after reading abortion-related legislation for 6 states & seeing the media report on text that’s not even in any of the bills.

— Daniel Gump ☕ (@DSiPaint) May 18, 2019

If they spent less time trying to change the world and more time doing what they're supposed to do, we wouldn't have this problem

— Mo Mo (@molratty) May 18, 2019

Reporters should only be reporting.

Leave the analysis to the professionals.

— Ben Rondeau (@bhrondeau) May 18, 2019

It became a political "calling" right after Watergate and has slowly regressed into what we see today.

— Fraunkenstine (@ristine_kevin) May 18, 2019

Yep … to be honest, Watergate is exactly what every journalism student aspires to do: take down a Republican president or prevent one from being elected. That’s the gold ring.

Terrifying that you *teach* journalism

— 1andone (@31taiuqsab) May 18, 2019

Nancy Pelosi claims Dems have never said there is not a crisis at the border (ROLL TAPE!)

Sat, 05/18/2019 - 17:36

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has addressed a question about Trump saying America has a border crisis this way:

Nancy Pelosi Claims Democrats Have Always Acknowledged The Border Crisis https://t.co/yRqtcxIGbn

— The Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) May 17, 2019

Here’s what Pelosi said this week:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that Democrats have “never not” called the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border a crisis, despite them repeatedly denying there was a crisis earlier this year.

“Well, let me just say this. We have never not said that there was a crisis — there is a humanitarian crisis at the border, and some of it provoked by the actions taken by the administration,” Pelosi, a California Democratic representative, said Thursday during her weekly press conference.

It depends on what your definition of “never” is:

Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi stated that Democrats NEVER SAID THERE WASN'T A CRISIS at the border…

What’s the excuse for this one? Another governor is about to sign pro-life legislation, and he’s a DEMOCRAT

Sat, 05/18/2019 - 00:37

Over the past few weeks, Democrats have been insisting that it’s a bunch of right-wing extremists in Georgia, Alabama, Missouri and other states who have been pushing and have passed pro-life legislation.

They might want to check out what is about to happen in Louisiana, where Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards is preparing to sign a pro-life law.

Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has repeatedly bucked national party leaders on abortion rights and is about to do it again. https://t.co/DKRAxWpKUH

— AP South U.S. Region (@APSouthRegion) May 17, 2019

And to the progressives who claim he just doing this for reelection purposes:

Nearly three decades ago, when Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards’ wife was 20 weeks pregnant with their first child, a doctor discovered their daughter had spina bifida and encouraged an abortion. The Edwardses refused.

Now, daughter Samantha is married and working as a school counselor, and Edwards finds himself an outlier in polarized abortion politics.

“My position hasn’t changed. In eight years in the Legislature, I was a pro-life legislator,” he said. When he ran for governor, his view was the same. “I’m as consistent as I can be on that point.”

To add to the destruction he is doing to his party’s talking points, Edwards says he is far from the only pro-life Democrat in the state.

Edwards on his opposition to abortion: “I know that for many in the national party, on the national scene, that’s not a good fit. But I will tell you, here in Louisiana, I speak and meet with Democrats who are pro-life every single day.” #lalege #lagov https://t.co/8VVDNd1m8j

— Melinda Deslatte (@MelindaDeslatte) May 17, 2019

The Louisiana law prohibits abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

After several states passed pro-life laws this week, Democrats are desperately stabbing around trying to find out why this is happening.

California Sen. and presidential candidate Kamala Harris thinks she’s got it.

This is the ABC News chart she referenced showing the ratio of male to female lawmakers in Alabama.

States passing abortion bans have among the lowest rates of women in power. https://t.co/CCH70ZpbTa pic.twitter.com/wR4ZksNUDw

— ABC News (@ABC) May 16, 2019

Which leaves out an important detail.

You understand that a woman signed the Alabama law, right? I think you meant to say “elect more progressives”. And you’re not in that bunch. https://t.co/O1Oomd1rqB

— BehaviorTrap (@BehaviorTrap) May 17, 2019

Guess the governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey, doesn’t count.

Like the Governor of Alabama? Lets elect more…smart…women. By the way Kamala…stay away from Joe Biden… https://t.co/Niwy877H8h

— David Page (@PageDavid) May 17, 2019

But that’s not all.

According to Census.gov statistics, there are more women in Alabama (51.6 percent) than men.

Breaking it down further, there is an even higher percentage of women than men among those 16 and older (52.4 percent).

So maybe, just maybe, it’s that voters in Alabama and the other states that have passed similar legislation actually want pro-life laws in their states.

Just a thought for Sen. Harris to ponder while she’s tweet-testing various positions for 2020.

A lopsided majority — 76 percent — believe that legal abortion should be limited to the first trimester, permitted only in very rare circumstances (rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life), or barred entirely.  Support for these pro-life reforms includes 61 percent of Democrats and 78 percent of independents.  And even if you excise the ‘first trimester’ option, fully 50 percent of Americans believe abortion should only be legally allowed in a handful of narrow circumstances, or not at all.

Been a rough week so far for Jim Acosta.

First, he gets hammered for blatantly lying about Trump’s comments on asylum seekers.

Literally says it all: Matt Gaetz sums up why ‘catch and release’ has been a total disaster

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 22:10

GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz (Florida) summed up the problem with the current “catch and release” policy when it comes to illegal immigration very effectively.

I think most people want an asylum system that works. Right now, we have catch and release. The Democrats are against the catch, we’re against the release. pic.twitter.com/clqAdbvaUY

And true.

Good one. https://t.co/CT1QCzrDpi

Meanwhile, President Trump ripped catch and release during his Friday tweets as “ridiculous” and warned that its days are numbered.

Border Patrol is apprehending record numbers of people at the Southern Border. The bad “hombres,” of which there are many, are being detained & will be sent home. Those which we release under the ridiculous Catch & Telease loophole, are being registered and will be removed later!

‘It’s a hall of mirrors’: Chuck Ross’ thread of State Dept. notes on Christopher Steele’s meeting is a MUST READ

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 19:45

We won’t pretend to understand a single thing that has been going on behind the scenes where the Steele dossier is concerned but thankfully Chuck Ross does get it and was good enough to write an entire thread on what we need to know about Christopher Steele and much more.

This is lengthy but worth the read.

State Dept notes of Christopher Steele meeting are the 1st gov't documents to identify some of Steele's dossier sources. A thread: https://t.co/bKdqurpyoi

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Ex-Russian intel official has links to Stefan Halper.

No big deal.

Eep.

Steele told Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11, 2016 that Vyacheslav TRUBNIKOV (ex-SVR chief) and Vladislav SURKOV (top Putin adviser) were "involved" in the Trump kompromat situation. Kavalec also wrote "sources" next to their names.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

‘Involved.’

Steele's June 20, 2016 memo has the claim about the Trump kompromat. "Source B" is described as "a former top level Russian intelligence officer still active inside the Kremlin." *Could* be Trubnikov.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

As former CIA station chief @danielhoffmanDC, this is all very tricky. "It's a hall of mirrors."

If Trubnikov/Surkov are sources, question is, were they witting or unwitting. And if the pee tape claim is false, what were Trubnikov/Surkov's motives in discussing false claims?

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Hoffman and a few other people who know about these things have claimed the dossier is Russian disinformation. Bill Barr testified he is "concerned" by that possibility.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Disinformation.

Filled with mistakes.

Very strange.

Yup.

Trubnikov also has links to Stefan Halper. Halper tapped Trubnikov to contribute to a 2015 Pentagon study on China-Russia issues. Halper was a contractor for Pentagon's Office of Net Assessment. He used the offer to write policy papers to get close to Papadopoulos

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Halper also hosted and arranged for Trubnikov to speak at the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar in 2012 and 2015. Trubnikov had visa problems prior to the 2015 visit, but those got cleared up.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Cleared up. Huh.

Halper's role in hosting Trubnikov is significant for a couple of reasons. Halper resigned from Cambridge Intelligence Seminar in Dec. 2016 over what he claimed was undue Russian influence. He reportedly was concerned that Russian operatives were given too much a platform.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Whoa.

But that doesn't gel with Halper giving Trubnikov, an extremely high-level Russian intel operative, a perch at Cambridge.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Then there is Halper's reported concern about Michael Flynn's visit to the seminar in 2014. Halper reportedly raised a red flag about Flynn's interactions with Russian-British academic Svetlana Lokhova.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Except there's literally zero evidence to suggest anything improper occurred between Flynn and Lokhova. But how could Halper be concerned about them but not Trubnikov?

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

Inquiring minds wanna know.

Fast forward to January 2016, and Halper's Cambridge associate, Christopher Andrew, invites Lokhova to a small dinner at Halper's home. If Halper thought Lokhova was some sort of Russian agent, why the invitation to his home? Months later, he was informing on the Trump campaign.

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 17, 2019

They never thought they’d lose so they never thought they’d get caught.

For someone who claims the media doesn’t have a political bias, Chris Cillizza sure does seem to work overtime to run interference and/or circle the wagons for the Left. If he were truly an unbiased journalist why would he be trying so hard to dunk on Conservatives?

For people who say the FISA Court is biased against Trump/conservatives:

Chief Justice John Roberts appoints all the judges on that court.

So….

— Chris Cillizza (@CillizzaCNN) May 17, 2019

So …

He’s completely biased.

Probably that he’s attacking a straw man and ignoring what people have actually said about FISA abuse.

‘Nervous?’ Adam Schiff has a BIG problem with Bill Barr investigating roots of Mueller probe

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 18:22

Rep. Adam Schiff has spent over two years pushing a bogus “collusion” narrative as fact based on “evidence” and yet he still has the audacity to accuse others of spreading lies. Here’s the latest example:

Barr says Trump’s campaign was “spied” upon. Trump claims treason. Both are incendiary. Neither is true.

Barr suggests a finger was put on the scale to affect the election. But the Trump probe was kept secret; the Clinton one wasn’t.

It’s the Trumpification of the DOJ.

— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) May 17, 2019

If there’s nothing to it then Schiff should welcome the upcoming vindication, right?

How do you know it’s not true. Isn’t that what the investigation is for?

First you investigate, then you conclude. Is that a process with which you are not familiar?

— Rich Weinstein (@phillyrich1) May 17, 2019

For Schiff that only applies to investigations initiated by Democrats, apparently.

Nervous? https://t.co/a0ToJYyvkM

— Hoosierdaddy317 (@Hoosierdaddy318) May 17, 2019

And all the replies begging Schiff to help get rid of Trump and Barr seem to help make that abundantly clear.

Vulture TV staff writer, Kathryn VanArendonk was very upset and even angry over the series finale of ‘Big Bang Theory’.

Not because the story wasn’t good or that the show wasn’t entertaining … nope.

— Kathryn VanArendonk (@kvanaren) May 17, 2019

How convenient! Bernie Sanders left one teensy little detail out of his case for tuition-free college

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 14:46

Education is a fundamental human right, we’re told. So why does it cost so much? Practically-President Bernie Sanders is on the case, and he’s going to fix it:

3,800%.

That's how much the cost of four-year public college has increased since 1964.

In that time, how many bright young people gave up the chance at a college education because they couldn't afford it?

We will make public colleges and universities tuition-free.

‘Insanity’: Activists blame hospitals for not doing more to address their ‘implicit biases’ when treating transgender patients like this one

Thu, 05/16/2019 - 22:00

Who’s up for a thought exercise? Imagine, if you can, that you’re a hospital medical professional, and a man shows up complaining of abdominal pain. Would your first thought be, “Hey, I’d better give that man a pregnancy test”? If not, well, consider yourself highly problematic. Because the New England Journal of Medicine describes a case in which an obese man — classified in his medical records as male — arrived at a hospital with severe abdominal pains and a nurse, assuming that he was a man, didn’t think to test him for pregnancy. The individual, who was, in fact, transgender, ultimately delivered a stillborn baby.

And now, the experts have decided that hospitals need to be more woke before the same thing happens to other transgendered people:

Obese man came to hospital w/abdominal pain. His records list him as “male.” Turns out he was a pregnant transsexual. Some activists & health professionals are blaming hospital for not immediately testing for pregnancy. They want more bias training. https://t.co/dpaPwLDPBz

— Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo) May 16, 2019

More from the AP:

Nic Rider, a transgender health specialist and psychologist at the University of Minnesota, said training isn’t enough.

“There are implicit biases that need to be addressed,” Rider said.

Health records may use male/female templates for gender but “it doesn’t mean that we just throw out critical thinking or think about how humans are diverse,” Rider said.

The case is horrifying but “not terribly surprising,” said Gillian Branstetter, a spokeswoman for an advocacy group, the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington.

Transgender people often run into problems getting gender-specific health care such as cervical cancer screening, birth control and prostate cancer screenings.

More needs to be done to improve medical awareness and recognition of diversity because “the consequences can be so dire, as this case shows,” Branstetter said.

No amount of medical awareness or recognition of diversity can change the fact that this is an unfortunate consequence of viewing gender dysphoria as something to be celebrated.

We live in ridiculous times
